Reinforcement bars

Hot-rolled steel for ferroconcrete structures reinforcing

The present technical standard is for hot-rolled round steel bars with smooth and ribbed structure intended for reinforcing normal and prestressed concrete construction (reinforcing steel). Standard norms of chemical structure of low alloy steel are distributed also to ingots, blooms and slugs.

Reinforcement steel with ribbed structure
Bars with regular located lateral ribs on their surface for improvement of bonding with concrete.

Reinforcement steel with smooth structure. Round bars with a smooth surface without grooving for improvement of bonding with concrete.

Strength grade
Established by the standard specified value of the physical or conditional yield point of steel.

Inclination angle of lateral ribs
Angle between lateral ribs (grooving) and longitudinal axis of a bar.

Pitch of lateral ribs
Distance between centers of two sequential lateral ribs measured parallel to longitudinal axis of a bar.

Height of lateral ribs
Distance from the extreme point of a lateral rib up to a bar core surface measured orthogonally to a longitudinal axis of a bar.

Nominal diameter of ribbed reinforcement steel bars
Diameter of equal-sized cross-sectional area of a round smooth bar.

The nominal area of cross section
The area of cross section equivalent to the area of the cross section of a round smooth bar with the same nominal diameter.

State Standard 10884-81
Thermomechanical and heat-hardenable steel ribbed bars with diameter 6- 40 mm are intended for strength ferroconcrete structures .
The reinforcement bars of this standard depending on mechanical properties are subdivided into following categories: Ах -III, Ат -IV, Ат -V, Ат -VI, Ат -VII, Ат -VIII.

State Standard 5781-82

Depending on mechanical properties reinforcement steel is subdivided into classes A-I (A240), A-II (A300), A-III (A400), A-IV (A600), A-V (A800), A-VI (A1000).

Reinforcement steel is made in bars or rolls. Reinforcement steel of A-I class (A240) is made smooth, classes A-II (A300), A-III (A400), A-IV (A600), A-V (A800), A-VI (A1000) - ribbed. On demand of the consumer steel of classes A-II (A300), A-III (A400), A-IV (A600), A-V (A800) is made smooth.

Reinforcement ribbed steel presents round structures with two longitudinal edges and cross ribs going on a triple-threaded helical curve. For sections with 6 mm diameter ribs going on a single-threaded helical curve are allowed, with 8 mm diameter - on a double-threaded helical curve.

Reinforcing steel grade A-II ( А 300), standard made, and specialized Ас -II ( Ас 300), should have ribs going on screw lines with identical start on both sides of a section.

Reinforcing steel grade A-III (A400) and grades A-IV ( А 600), A-V (A800), A - VI ( А 1000) should have ribs on screw lines having on one side right start, and with another - left start.

Relative displacements of screw ribs on the sides of a section divided by longitudinal edges, off - standard.

Reinforcing steel grades A-I (A240) and A-II ( А 300) of diameter up to 12 mm and grade A-III (A400) of diameter up to 10 mm inclusive are made in coils or bars, large diameters - in bars. Reinforcing steel grades A - IV ( А 600), A-V (A800) and A-VI (A1000) of all sizes are made in bars with diameter 6 and 8 mm by agreement of manufacturer with the consumer in coils.

Reinforcement bars are made from carbon and low alloy steel of the grades specified in the table. For bars of class A-IV (A600) of the steel grade it is determined by agreement with the consumer.

The notes:
The manufacturing of reinforcement steel class A-V ( А 800) is alllowed from steel grades 22 Х 2 Г 2 АЮ , 22 Х 2 Г 2 Р and 20 Х 2 Г 2 СР . The sizes specified in brackets are produced by agreement with the consumer.

The West-Siberian iron-and-steel works produces heat-hardenable reinforcement steel grades А 400 С and А 500 С specified by standard 14-1-5254-94. The low carbon content of along with thermomechanical treatment of reinforcement steel in rolling provides improved welding characteristics and plasticity, hyperviscosity and durability. This reinforcement steel conforms to the international standards .

Architectural department of Russia recommends to use reinforcement steel А 400 С and А 500 С in ferroconcrete structures on a level with and in exchange for reinforcement steel A-III of grades 25 Г 2 С and 35 ГС (State Standard 5781-82) and Ат -III С (State Standard 10884-81) of the same diameters. Thermotechnical and heat-treatable steel ribbed bars with diameter 6- 40 mm , are intended for strength reinforced concrete constructions (State Standard 10884-81).

Reinforcing steel is subdivided into classes according to:

mechanical properties - strength grade (established by the standard of specified value of conditional or physical yield point in newton/mm 2 );

operating characteristics - into weldable (index С ), stress corrosion cracking resistant (index К ).

Reinforcing steel is produced of classes Ат 400 С , Ат 500 С , Ат 600, Ат 600 С , Ат 600 К , Ат 800, Ат 800 К , Ат 1000, Ат 1000 К and Ат 1200. By agreement with the consumer reinforcing steel strength grade Ат 800 higher is allowed to produce smooth.

Marking:

In the absence of rolling marks, the bars or coils of reinforcing steel of the appropriate class should be painted with an indelible paint of the following colors:

Ат 400 С - white;
Ат 500 С - white and dark blue;
Ат 600 - yellow;
Ат 600 С - yellow and white;
Ат 600 К - yellow and red;
Ат 800 - green;
Ат 800 К - green and red;
Ат 1000 - dark blue;
Ат 1000 К - dark blue and red;
Ат 1200 - black.
